Picking process is heart in any of warehouse processing and sometimes it is required to change the source HU and pick from an alternate HU. SAP EWM, since 9.1 version has introduced a tool called as ''Exception Handling'' which can primarily be deployed to work with exceptions like picking from alternate HU, change batch, change destination Bin and many more.
The list of valid exceptions depends on the type of warehouse task (handling unit (HU) warehouse task or product warehouse task) and on the current step of the process (source storage bin or destination storage bin).

The following internal exceptions allow to trigger exceptions.
LIST — Trigger List of Valid Exceptions
Use ''List'' to pick the required exception code, BIDF( Full Pick denial), system will either propose 2 things
1) It will propose an alternate HU or different storage bin
2) If it fails to find the the above, it will create a Physical inventory document.
However, BIDF can undoubtedly be used to pick quantity from different source HU,
All testing is conducted in Sandbox S/4 HANA 1709 embedded EWM system
