Your customer may want to see a seasonal or periodic classification according to the demand for their products. At this point, you can present the EWM ABC analysis to your customer as a simple solution.

ABC analysis in Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) allows you to categorize the importance of products based on confirmed warehouse tasks.

At the same time /SCWM/ABC t-code that can be used to update a few parameters from product master data such as: putaway control indicator, storage section indicator and cycle counting indicator. This is a simple transaction that can be executed foreground or background.

Let's look at how to do this process in more detail.

The selection screen consists of several sections:

  • Location & Product Selection
  • Confirmed Product Warehouse Task Selection

Analysis Strategy Selection

Location & Product Selection

The required parameter in this section is the warehouse number. However, you can get efficient results by filtering as much as you can.

Confirmed Product Warehouse Task Selection

The second part allows us to filter the movements of the products. A more specific and efficient analysis can be created by applying filters according to the desired demand.

Analysis Strategy Selection

In the first field in this section, the rules of ABC analysis are determined;

ABC Analysis Basis – C No. of Confirmed WTs or Q Quantity Moved

 

You should decide whether the system will analyze according to the number of confirmed warehouse tasks or the total quantity moved.

No. Of ABC Categories - This is the number of indicators you want to define to the system.

 

Basis in % / No. - The system can use percentage or quantity to calculate and classify the selected data, you should choose what better fits your requirement.

For instance, in my scenario, I will define that category A should group the products that represent 80% of my WTs confirmed, category B – 15% and category C – 5%.

The other field in this section is for new data definition. Accordingly to their categories, you define how the product master should be updated.

The filters in my scenario are as follows.

Execute

After push the button Execute the system will analyze and display the products in form of a list.

In this list, you can make your changes manually if you wish and after that save the updates following these two steps.
